Introduction:


Chow Africa is a food app that simplifies meal planning and decision-making. Offering a variety of recipes, restaurant recommendations, and budget-friendly options, Chow Africa aims to be your one-stop shop for a stress-free and delicious food experience. However, with a crowded market, launching their social media presence and acquiring users required a creative and engaging strategy.


The Challenge:


The task at hand was to develop a viral social media launch campaign for Chow Africa that would:

  • Generate massive online awareness about the app.

  • Increase app downloads significantly.

  • Attract their target audience (aged 26-35, with a focus on females) and showcase the app's benefits.




The Solutions Provided:


The #CookWith1KChallenge: This central campaign leveraged Nigerians' love for delicious food and budget-consciousness. Users were challenged to create a mouthwatering Nigerian dish using the Chow App for just N1,000. Sharing their recipe with the hashtag #CookWith1KChallenge entered participants in a daily draw for a free month of meals.


Fun & Informative Content: Eye-catching graphics, short recipe videos (with a touch of humor!), and informative articles tackled the daily "What's for dinner?" dilemma. Engaging polls and quizzes regarding food preferences and budgeting further fueled audience interaction.


Positive & Educational Tone: The campaign maintained a fun, relatable, and educational voice. From highlighting fun food facts to offering tips on saving money on groceries, the content resonated with the target audience's desire for a solution to their mealtime woes.

Strategic Social Media Platforms: Focusing on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, the campaign catered to the target demographic's preferred platforms. Exploring TikTok for the younger segment was also a potential avenue for further expansion.




The #CookWith1KChallenge, combined with a consistent stream of informative and entertaining content, will not only create a buzz for Chow Africabut also address the target audience's pain points with a fun and engaging approach. This social media launch strategy is well on its way to establishing Chow Africa as the go-to app for a hassle-free and delicious food experience.
